Mark “Nessie” Nesmith is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist whose career spans decades of live performances, recording sessions, and creative achievements. A true Southeast Texas native, Mark has performed across the South, fronting bands like Hackberry Road and Lone Star Republic while also gracing stages as a solo artist. His musical journey has taken him to venues like the Dallas House of Blues, Levitt Pavilion, and Remington Park Casino, among others, showcasing his soulful blend of old-school blues, folk rock, and Americana.

Mark’s passion for the arts isn’t limited to music—he’s an accomplished painter whose work has been displayed in exhibitions across the country, including the Art Museum of Southeast Texas and the Longview Museum of Fine Arts. His artistic flair and dedication have been recognized in numerous national publications, and his paintings are included in collections in over 30 states. At the heart of his musical endeavors is Melon Jelly, a groovin’ trio that combines funky blues and retro rock. As the band’s lead guitarist and vocalist, Mark brings his soulful sound and captivating stage presence to life, alongside drummer Stephen Droddy and bassist Jason McCollum. Together, the band has gained a strong following, recently becoming finalists in the 2024 Houston Blues Challenge and earning a spot in the International Blues Challenge.
